Heat Pumps
Heat pumps are used to transport heat from one medium to another. For example, heat can be withdrawn from the ground to heat a building. This type of heat pump is called water-to-water heat pump.
Water-to-water heat pumps can also be performed reversibly. In doing so, in the winter heat from the ground is extracted and carried into the building and in the summer the heat from the building is passed into the soil. There it is stored to be used again for heating in winter.
