Capillary Type Systems

For more than 15 Years, conventional HVAC Systems are being replaced by the Capillary Tube System for Heating and Cooling. Throughout Europe, more than 150.000 m2 of Cap Tubes are installed yearly.

S-L Systems has optimized this innovative technology over the last years.

Cap Tube Systems are different from conventional systems: Instead of transporting hot or cold air into a room, the room surfaces are heated or cooled with water circulating Cap Mats and they are radiating into the room.

The Human body functions in a similar way by using fine Capillaries to regulate the body temperature. The cooling and heating surfaces work with temperatures of 19 C for cooling and only 26-29 C for heating, so that even in the heating mode, Energy from the Human body is transmitted to the “Active Room Surfaces”.

A steady soft exchange between the two is created. The Heat Exchange takes place at 60% of Radiation and 40% of convection, equal to the heat regulation of the Human Body. People in such environment feel good and it is proven, that the productivity is increased.

Because of the large exchange surfaces and the small difference between room temperature and the room surfaced (5 C ) large amount of energy is transported without the drafts and the noise of conventional systems.

Plaster Ceiling oder Wall Heating with PP-Ultra-System

The Cap Mats are applied directly on to the concrete ceiling or integrated into the plaster. The ‘made to measure’ Cap Mats are completely embedded into the plaster to guarantee an optimum heat transfer between the two.

The integration of Cap Mats into Walls of different constructions is a worthwhile alternative to conventional HVAC systems.
Besides the high performance even at low water temperatures and its dynamic response during the heating and cooling phase, the flexibility and the very low installation height are very convincing, making it possible for later various installations. – Thus Cap Mats are perfect for the refurbishing of old buildings.
Another important factor is the possibility to change the Active Wall Surfaces during the summer to a very comfortable cooling mode. In a lot of cases, the necessary cooling energy can be retrieved from Geothermal Cap Mats, which are placed in the ground.

Dry-Wall Ceiling with the PP-Combi-System

Cap Mats are installed in closed Dry-Wall Ceilings between the carrying profiles and the carrying grid. The insulation is placed on top, so that the Mats are evenly pressed against the Dry-Wall when fixed to the ceiling. The ceiling is also available as a perforated Acoustic Ceiling. Any kind of Dry-Wall panels can be used, whereby the appearance, installation height and cooling output may vary.

Metal-Wall with the PP-Meta-System

Every Metal Cassette Ceiling can be made into a Cooling Ceiling or Cooling/Heating Ceiling with the integration of Cap Mats regardless of Ceiling type or ceiling construction.
The ‘made to measure’ Cap Mats are placed into the Metal – Cassettes in such a way, so that a maximum heat transfer between Cap Mats and Metal panel is given. The connections to the supply-lines, which are placed in the area above the panels is done with ‘snap-in’ connectors.

Floor Heating with the PP-Floor-System

Floor Heating and Cap Mats can be installed in all kinds of buildings. The water-circulating Cap Mats are integrated in the floor construction, which gives the floor an even spread temperature.
Because of it’s large exchange surface, large amount of energy can be transferred even at low Temperature differences between the Room-Air and the Room-Surfaces.
The radiated energy provides a comfortable feeling, because it corresponds with the natural energy system of the Human Body.
Because the temperature feels approx. 2-3 C higher than the actual Room Temperature, the heating energy consumption is lowered.
By integrating the Cap Mats directly into the floor, the reaction of the system is very fast, and within a few minutes the surface temperature has been reached.
Even if implemented into the light concrete, Cap Mats need only ¼ of the time to heat up than conventional systems.
